May 16, 2009Hopes are shattered and nightmares prevailed, UPA 250, NDA 160 : Share Your Views

So, the results are out and it is exact opposite to what this blog predicted. It is a major win for congress, in every state and every part of country. All other major alliances are decisively defeated. Congress says it is a vote for development and for its crown prince Rahul Gandhi. He did revive congress in UP as promised.
Still my biggest sympathy is with BJP, which is the party I voted for. A nationalist party. It is a loss of face for BJP.
But friends, There are times in history of a nation when all seem lost and looks like wrong forces have won the final battle. But dear friends, it is just a process, which goes on and on. 5 years may be significant time period in life of a man, but in life of a nation (that too a nation like India) is just a flickr of eye.
The time after defeat is not for grief and blame-game. It is the time to introspect and start preparing to come out as winner in next battle.
Though hopes are shattered and nightmares are prevailing, the dawn will surely come. It is not the first black day of Indian history, we survived and fought back. Let us do that again.
Tell us what do you feel, comment!

I think its time for Shri. L K Advani to retire. Anyways this country is doomed, all the ho-hallah about we want change and lighting of candles after every bomb blast were a hoax.
I will not shed a tear for my country after any terrorist attack. We Indians have done this throughtout our history and continue doing- The path of self destruction. Shame on you- People of India.
Rest assured- Afzal Guru and Ajmal Kasab would be relishing biryani/pulao for the next 5 years.

1. It is the third succesive general election that the BJP’s strength has declined. From 182 to 138 to 116 now. It took fifty years for Congres to decline..it took just ten years to BJP to decay.
Clearly something is seriously wrong with the policies of BJP.
2.Every political party which backstabbed Congress was punished by God and the people of India.
1. PDP in Kashmir withdrew support to Cong govt in Kashmir. Look what happened. PDP got ZERO seats.
2. JMM tried to blackmail COng several times. It got drubbed in Jharkand.
3. RJD backstabbed Cong. RJD nosedived from 22 to 4
4. Paswan backstabbed Cong. Paswan got a BIG ZERO.
5. Left parties withdrew support to Cong. they came sliding down from 60 t0 25
6. PMK enjoyed the fruits of power in centre for 5 years and ditched Congress at the last minute. they got a big ZERO.
7. TRS got off the UPA govt. midway, leaving Cong in the lurch. TRS got a severe drubbing in Andhra.
8.NCP was playing games with Cong, and flirting with Shiv Sena. NCP’s tally came down from last time. COng emerged biggest player in Maharashtra.
9. Samajwadi Party backstabbed Cong and SPs seats fell from 35 to 23
Those who stood behind Congress like a rock benefitted.
DMK incrased its seats from 16 to 18
TMC increased its seats ffrom 1 to 19
NC increased its seats from 2 to 3

@Zahan, Franklin et all: faithfuls of the Hindu right have a party that does not bend itself to get your votes. It treats everyone as “equals”. Hindu is secular hence our pluralism is a truth, you bet if most of our forefathers had given in to the Sultanate long back, this would have been a Taliban area for sure. And we would have been living under drones and AK-47s.
As far as the BJP is concerned, inspite of the defeat, insipite of the fact that the media abhors them…we still consider it to be our political vent…long live the hindu-right..long live BJP

Hi All.
Just I have gone through the series of communications going on.. First I need to congratulate the Congress for winning the election. The good thing is that they will now have all the full power to start developing the country without any constarints from Left, third or fourth. If they will done, they will occupy the parliaments for next few decades..
Secondly, this results shows a huge blow for BJP. Now their time to start analysing the raeson for loss in this election. They all need to restructure the whole team. My suggestion is that they will bring back Uma bharathi and give a good position and a constructive role for the development of BJP. Also they need to develop a good candidate for the party. Also they need to concentarte on youth which will definitely help the party. I will go with Sushma Swaraj. But I need the election only in 2014…

BJP has no presence in half of the states in India. They should improve their presence in WB, TN and kerela. They should also improve in UP. Modi, Jaitley or even Nithish could lead NDA. In fact by using the face of Nithish, they can hold him with NDA.
May 17th, 2009 at 8:29 PM
Raj,
No need to be over emotional. While most of us in this blog who were hoping to see BJP do much better are greatly disappointed we must get shattered and the need of the hour is to maintain calm and see how the situation evolves. The Congress can hope for a smooth run for atleast a year but mind you the economic situation is quite bad and may not change drastically in the next 1 year. The Govt. will have to to take hard decisions and the prospect of the fiscal deficit touching double digits in percentage terms means that the road ahead will be very painful.
The BJP must set its house in order and try to add masses based issues along with its core issues. Like the death of a grand patriach L.K.Advani’s exit fromn the national scene is bound to shake the foundations of the party with no clear second line leader and that includes Narendra Modi. For a party that rose from the ashes of 1984 and the insecure neighbourhood that we live in opputunities are bound to come for rebuilding the collapsed edifice.

BJP has no presence in AP. In this election, no BJP candidate campaigned in A.P to the extent that other party candidates. It is the responsibility of BJP candidates to bring the manifesto of the BJP to the people. Even educated people/house wives in AP have no idea of what BJP stands for. very few ads in newspaper/TV’s were carried out in the media. Even new party loksatta candidates were covered more than the BJP candidates in print and tv. Loksatta chief JP appears regularly in local channels. The more people know about BJP, the more are the chances that they will get converted to votes. BJP should selectively target urban pockets all district headquarters and educated people in AP. Most people are tired of rampant religious conversions but they are turning a blind eye. They want to align themselves with winning party although they are not benefited by COngress policies like Musilm reservations/2 rs rice scheme etc. It is those people who BJP should targe. BJP should start gaining some presence in the coming Municipal elections by having strong cadre. If Loksatta and PRP can poll so many thousands of votes, why not BJP? All disenchanted educated voters voted for Loksatta. BJP should soften hindutva stance especially in AP by appearing more acceptable to educated voters. Identify areas where educated people live. Do door to door campaigning. Don’t care about TDP. TDP’s strength will be reduced after 5 more years of rule. This is the time when BJP can start showing its presence. TV and Print Media should be used. This requires huge sums of money.

Hi Hari,
You can say BJP has done lot of mistakes. I think, BJP has done only one mistake, BJP should go alone in AP,TN,WB, Kerala and Orissa and should create big problem for Amma, TDP and Mamta.

@chakresh
Thanks chakresh…it is really good to support any national party whether BJP or congress …..but all is not correct with any party whether BJP or congress or anyone……but i believe that is not black day…i am really intrested in ur elaboration….
May 17th, 2009 at 2:09 PM
@Saurav
I am not at all intrested in Pro congress blog, Pro Muslim, Pro Christ blog but certainly in a pro indian blog. I have siply put my opinion that instead of discussing who is secular or pseudo secular, or become a supporter of a particular party we should discuss the policies/work of government… developing india is not about uplifitng hindu only…how can we forget the contribution of APJ, AR rahman, javed akhtar, many more..dont forget if congress is having seats above 200 it is because of non hidu votes only..it is because of hindu voters who thinks MMS govt is certainly better tha LK’s govt..u r not hindu only in india. i have no ambition to become CEO of so called pseudo secular org.. .. ….If u want to discuss pseudo secular i can also do that….Thanks for ur comment…i am not at all intrested in such discussion on this blog(Promis for reason) but it was necessary to answer u

First it appears that there is another Person with my name blogging.
The BJP should do some serious introspection. I believe that some of the points given below should be seriously be debated by the party.
1. The BJP assumed that the massive price rise and general economic downturn will mean that the Congress will suffer the effect of being the incumbent at this time. The results have shown that the people also weigh the alternative and have considered the Congress better suited to manage the situation. This is amply reflected in the results to the seats of UT of Delhi.
2. The power of poppulism has been grossly underestimated by the BJP. The NREGA sceme has helped the Congress in states where they have ruled and also the loan waiver in many places more particularly AP and Vidharba.
3. The main opposition party must not depend on a negative vote as then it may be shared by other parties who thus split the vote of the opposition. It is necessary to build a positive vote that can be got only by promising goodies and delivering them. The BJP must do this to ensure that the states that they rule are not lost the next time.
4. The dismal failure at Rajasthan can be attributed to the perception that the party has played a political game by pitting the Gujjars against the Meenas. The numerically larger Meenas completely ditched the party mainly due to Kirori Lal Meena’s exit from the party and subsequently by the party giving ticket to Col. Bainsla.
5. The party should have accomodated the BJD even it meant playing second fiddle. The final tally of the party has suffered immensely due to the its over expectation in Orissa.
6. The advent of parties like BSP has meant that Five star class leaders cannot get votes in UP by simply bombarding them with loud speakers during election time. There must be greater connect to the Rural masses. Rahul Gandhi has managed a near miracle by his methods. Although this performance is temporary the Congress has now a chance to deliver to the people.
6. A major portion of the Champaign of Mr.L.K.Advani has been spent on projecting Dr. Manmohan Singh as a weak PM and presented himself as a Potentially strong PM. For whatever reason this has hardly caught the imagination of the masses and the events like the Kandahar hijack that happened during Advani’s term as Home Minister hardly helped his champaign as the opposition was quick to point out them. The common man hardly cares whether the PM is strong or weak. He is concerned with his bread and butter issues.
7.The Power of poppulism has been amply proven many times over in Tamil Nadu. The Rs. 1 per KG of rice coupled with the Vijaykanth factor has helped the DMK even though there was a general uneasiness among the not so downtrodden over the power crisis and family rule.
8. The BJP must really search out as to how they were decimated in Uttarakhand a state that they were in power and should have expected to do well. There is no better recipe than the intention to do good governance as can be seen in the results in Bihar where even Paswan was humbled.
9. In Maharashtra the losses in Mumbai and its suburbs were largely due to Raj Thackeray. This should have been anticipated in advance.
10. The huge hopes in Haryana were all proved wrong. The alliance did not work well on the ground.
11. Modi has also failed to deliver Gujarat to the extent expected and this could be explained partly to the choice of candidates and partly to his trying to cut the Patel lobby to size.
Thus said it is sad that the very person who set the BJP on its path of revival had to bite the dust when it came to his own election. The BJP now needs a new leader (not any one current set up) who can communicate with the masses. The BJP could do well to wait for its time and begin its new sojourn at the appropriate time.

Well done to the Congress party nd I pray 4 BJP’s rout in the Maha. Assembly elections as well. Hope Cong-NCP is back 2 power nd not backstabbers like the BJP-Shiv Sena.

Hi,
I have told many times, BJP should create own base in TN,WB,Kerala and AP. Should not believe on unpredictable allinaces. In my opinion BJP has not lost at all. If you see congress+ got 100 seats in WB,TN,Kerala and AP, where BJP is zero. BJP should work hard and at least create defeat for TDP,Mamta and Amma.
Conress+ 260-100(WB,TN,Kerala and AP) = 160
BJP+ = 160
Both are equal.

in last five years bjp was like a potato in cold storage there leaders were not connected to public .
first and foremost bjp should ask its leaders to work with the people in all ares .
fight for the rights of the hindus in all ares whether there is grounf for bjp or not.
make hindus prouds of themself.
work with the important people of each caste in hindus give them some responsibilities .
to make a necklace all pearls has to be put in single thread . to make a strong bjp and a strong nation all castes of the religion should be woven in single thread .
and wew need both thread and pearls to be strong .
to make thread and pearls strong we need to build strong caste based society with the high value in there hearts for the strong feeling for hindutva .
and try arrange the coalition of big castes in each state for bjp like lingayat brahmin etc in karnataka. because this will enable bjp candidates in any strong anti bjp wave also. work for hindutva is good but that some people should feel him closer that somepeople should be enough to get that winning in mla or mp elections
then only bjp can win elections

I hope that the Pseudo secular TV Channels are finally satisfied since nobody I going to watch these channels from here on…………Atleast not me.
With only a single party rule (—Sorry a single Family rule) with absolutely no competition at all, its just a bit boring.
These TV channels could care less since they are on the payroll of Saudi money, Vatican money and CIA
